Create a European space for dialogue and action on mobility

The European Coalition for Apprentice Mobility (ECAM) brings together major vocational education and training (VET) organizations from 8 Member States.

Together, they represent approximately 2,000 training organisations, train nearly one million apprentices and have organized over 20,000 mobilities in 2024, primarily within the framework of the Erasmus+ program.

Ambitions & objectives

Equal access

Mobility in VET promotes skills development, contributes to economic prosperity and social cohesion in Europe. However, VET learners, particularly apprentices, benefit from fewer international opportunities than their higher education peers.

Progress

The coalition members share the ambition to advance apprentice mobility and contribute to the target of 12% of VET learners in mobility by 2030, which was set by the Council of the European Union.

Accelerate

As network of networks accelerating learning mobility, the coalition aims to support the attractiveness and quality of training, promote youth employability, and strengthen European values. The coalition would like to contribue to a European Area for VET and Apprenticeships.

Approach

The systematic integration of mobility, if possible for at least two months, into training pathways requires the active involvement of training institutions, businesses, and institutional stakeholders.

The coalition brings together organizations officially recognized in their respective systems. It federates interconnected networks cooperating at institutional and operational levels to:

  • Develop structured mobility actions, in line with economic needs and integrating the recognition of learning outcomes;
  • Exchange best practices among mobility accelerator organizations, particularly to increase the involvement of the economic sector and professionalize mobility stakeholders;
  • Conduct advocacy actions with national and European institutions regarding legal frameworks, funding mechanisms, and policies favorable to mobility.
